http://www.loc.gov/pictures/collection/fsa/item/2017745034/ The characters are children in the American River Camp in San Joaquin Valley, California. The photo takes place during the depression and also appears to be very dusty as well. They are thinking that it is annoying to have to go pump water when they would rather be playing, as two of the smallest children in the picture appear to be holding toys in their hand. They likely feel hot, thirsty, and sun-scorched. The girl facing the camera on the left appears to be squinting her eyes in the harsh sunlight. The relationship between the characters is likely amicable and friendly as they are all young children around similar ages, so they are likely friends. They are pumping water into a jug and will soon take it back to their family or families at the camp, as they have a cart to carry the jug. The story is about children struggling during the depression and having to work and pump water. The picture shows that they are also not in school, which adds to the effect of the depression.

https://stevemccurry.com/galleries/silent-language-hands The characters are a young girl, an unidentifiable adult, and an unidentifiable infant, all in war-torn Afghanistan. They are likely thinking they need to get away from the poverty and violence, as the girls face is dirty and her lips have cuts, the hand holding her is also cut, and the infant's leg is dirty. They are likely feeling in despair from their dirtiness and wounds. The relationship of characters is likely family. If I had to guess I would say the picture is depicting a parent and their two children. In the photo the adult is clutching the children to his or herself, almost as if to protect them. The story is about a war-torn family in Afghanistan, where they have to endure squalor conditions and injuries.
Activity 3
https://gmhsart.weebly.com/uploads/6/4/9/6/6496393/screen-shot-2018-01-11-at-2-25-27-pm_orig.png The story here is that vets are visiting the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne Australia, which is dedicated to all Australian vets. The men are Vietnam vets, so they are likely reflecting on their past and their fellow fallen soldiers. One of the men has a couple medals signifying his importance in the war. The first photograph, of the shrine, is contributing to the story by showing the awesome size of the shrine and the way it lights up in the night. The photo of the vets on motorcycles shows a piece of the vet's personalities. The two portrait photos of the vets show their personalities and show some of the vets that visit the memorial. The photo of the medals show that some of these visiting vets were recognized in war, which contributes to the overall story of these veterans that have been in war visiting the shrine and honoring their fellow living and fallen soldiers.
Activity 4
The story is about a grandfather dying and going to heaven, and he is saying goodbye to his grandson. I don't think the story could be communicated as effectively using less photos, I think each photo is essential to the timeline of the story. I chose this photo because the timeline of the story is very clear and it is interesting how going to heaven is portrayed in this story.
Activity 5
The story here is about basketball player #4 practicing in the gym. She changes out of her uniform in the locker room so as to wear clothes more suitable to practice. While practicing she has a selection of basketballs to choose from. She then practices her middle layup.
Brooke Higgins
The story here is a student working on her biology midterm study guide in gym class. She has her phone next to her in case she needs it and she has her iPad next to her for reference to fill out the study guide. She is leaning against the wall, not participating in gym class.
The way my editor edited the photos.
Questions
1. My idea for this story was that I am a basketball player, so I wanted to showcase the experience of a basketball player practicing. I think this a unique experience vibrant with the colors of the court. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. I chose these photographs to communicate my story because I believe these are the most essential 3 pictures. These 3 photos provide the most details about the story without any unneeded detail. They also show the key parts of the story.
